While it’s imperative for Australia to beat Sri Lanka at the Sydney Cricket Ground, especially after their loss to New Zealand, the team is not sweating it.
Never mind that another defeat can hinder their journey to the finals.
Opener Aaron Finch told reporters, “I don’t think it matters who you play, to win the World Cup you have to beat the best teams in the world.”
But they’re not exactly over confident either. What he’s trying to say is that just as long as the team is sticking to the basics, they can get the job done. Well it’s no secret that, with the exception of their game against New Zealand, they’ve been playing good Cricket lately. So that alone can increase their chances of winning this game.
Now regarding Finch’s personal performance, the cricketer admitted that he’s nervous before every match, although not at all worried about his form. He’s been playing really well after all.
Proof of that is the century he managed to score against England in Australia’s World Cup and the succeeding innings against New Zealand, and another against Afghanistan.
What’s more, he proved to be an effective replacement for stalwart-all rounder Shane Watson, who has been dropped over the victory against Afghanistan.
Well, whatever the results will be in the upcoming game, Australia cricket fans will be assured that the team will give it their best shot.
